Few parts on a motorcycle can bring more pure nostalgia at a glance than a springer front end. Inline springers were found stock on Harley Davidson® 45" motorcycles from 1936 - 1957 and on Big Twins from 1936 - 1945. “Inline” refers to the steering stem and springer legs being in-line, versus an offset springer, where the steering stem was staggered back slightly from the springer legs.

Springer front ends provide a little more ground clearance than most standard front ends, which made them very popular for many custom choppers built both past and present. They look great and they perform quite well even at today’s standards.
