With all the distracted drivers on the road these days, having a motorcycle horn on your bike is a good idea. Having anything on your bike that helps people notice you is a good idea for that matter. If you ever doubt how distracted people are these days, just listen to this short story.

People are Oblivious to Motorcycles

We were doing some work for a Halloween ad and decided to have a buddy ride around with a headless horseman costume on. This Halloween costume and his motorcycle literally made my buddy look like he had no head at all, and it came complete with a long cape and everything. We then had a camera guy follow him around to document people’s reactions. As he rode his motorcycle around with the costume on, in broad daylight, we were dumbfounded at the lack of reaction. It was amazing. Nobody even noticed. 

We got to the point where we had him riding through busy Walmart parking lots with the same result. We did manage to get a lot of videos of people looking at their cell phones. This guy was riding a Dyna with really loud shorty pipes and the whole bit, and nobody even blinked an eye. We believe there is a lesson to be learned here. Anything you can add to your bike to help people notice you when they are coming into your lane, pulling out in front of you, or just keeping you on your toes is a good decision. A decent motorcycle horn is a good thing to have.
