LOVE the design of the cover but it is not relieved (machined) to clear the bolt head for the Dynatek magnet in my application. It’s a very thick casting. Torn between returning it and machining it myself....
Not my first and won't be my last Throwback Cycle part. Quality stuff from those guys...
Fast shipping, everything looked and fit great. thank you
Great looking cover. Subtle, but nice touch to my Ironhead. Thanks.
the cover is well cast, but still having the rough surface indicative of sand casting. So it appears a dark aluminum grey. Some quick work with a little emery cloth on the back will smooth things out on the mating surface so that that cover will get the maximum heat transfer from the engine. Hey it's finned lets insure it's functional as well as cool looking. Then if you want it mirror shiny, us a buffing wheel, start with With Black or Blue sticks until you have removed all the roughness from the casting, then move to Brown polishing stick, and then finish with white. and you can polish this to a almost chrome like mirrored finish. That or keep it rough cast for that old retro look. I polished mine to fit in with the chromed points housing, and I wish this was an option but no worries. Great part, and function too. Lowers the temp of the points housing by about 10deg.
