One of the cool parts you can add to your custom build is a motorcycle chain conversion kit. Belts are fine, but motorcycle chain conversion kits are cool and they deliver some performance advantages you cannot achieve with a belt.

Belt drives have been preferred by some manufacturers like Harley Davidson® simply because they reduce the amount of maintenance for the motorcycle owner. Drive belts need to be tested for proper tension every 3000-6000 miles, and that is about it. They are quieter than chain drives and better looking than shaft drives.

Furthermore, shaft drives are quiet and have very little maintenance, but they are also heavy and ugly. The large shaft connects to the rear axle which usually means a large bulge on one side of the rear wheel. Drive shafts also make it very difficult to change your gearing should you choose to do so because everything is encased, and the gearing options are simply not available. Both belt drives and shaft drives are not considered performance options if you are looking to get the most power to the rear wheel. 

Benefits of Motorcycle Chain Conversion Kits

A motorcycle chain conversion like  sprocket kits are a good choice for performance-built motorcycles. Belt drives work, but they allow for a certain amount of “give” which decreases the amount of torque produced at the rear wheel.

Our motorcycle chain sprocket kits use beefy 530 chains which are great for delivering all of the power directly to your rear wheel. The chain drives also make it easy for you to change the gear for your motorcycle. If you want more torque you can simply choose a rear sprocket with an additional tooth or two and you will get more torque. If you are looking to add more top end speed you simply reduce the number of teeth in the drive system. Changing the gearing via the front or rear sprocket gives you a lot of flexibility and control on how the motorcycle performs.

This can be a huge benefit when you are looking to get the best performance out of your bike. The motorcycle chain conversion kit requires very little maintenance once it is installed. You will have to adjust the motorcycle chain tension every so often, and add a little chain lube to keep things running smooth, but that is about it.
